Wounded wolf

"Never stray from the path,

never eat a windfall apple

and never trust a man whose eyebrows meet."

- The Company of wolves -movie

Wounded wolf has been inspired by movie The Company of Wolves. In this piece I interpret the film's spirit from my own perspective - by creating a world and story with combining physical theatre, circus and some puppetry work.

Who made these rules how to live? or to be?
Whose path is this? for who I dress and speak?
If being myself truly and finding my own path, learning from my own mistakes makes me a wolf I would rather be the one than controlled by anyone.

Fuck these sheep's clothes!
I will keep howling from my soul till the end of times.

I have written and choreographed Wounded wolf.  The performance is my SaSak Lahti Circus education graduation number and I have performed the piece part of our closing acts -Vardo in January 2024.

Kohina short film

I had a great experience to play second main character in Kohina short film.

Kohina short film is written and directed by Sakari Maliniemi.

Filmed in June 2023, Inari, Finnish Lapland.

One-woman street circus tour

When I was studying circus in Lahti I had this thought, this fear knocking back my head that I was just a dreamer. I had all these ideas and stories I wanted to bring to people to see but how? What if I lack something to make my big ideas concrete? This fear pushed me forward to prove myself I have it in me. I took one of my ideas and started to work with it and soon I was touring on my own around Finland street performing. I created myself a summer job for 2022 and 2023.

The best moments I experienced on tour were the people I met. I made many friends and even performed some of them during the tour. While writing this text I still feel deep gratitude in my heart. The purpose of the tour was to liven up street circus culture in Finland. I wanted to bring street circus to places where people haven't experienced much of it.

Applying for grants for the both years was very beneficial despite that I didn’t get the grant for the summer 2022. I learned how to write and develop my applications and in 2023 Finnish Cultural Foundation granted a One-woman street circus tour. That was very helpful because without the grant I wouldn’t be able to tour the second year.
